How to Apply for a Grant from Philos Foundation
Please review our mission and priorities to determine if your request matches current grant opportunities.
Funding Guidelines
We ask that grant seekers review our mission and priorities to determine if their request matches current grant opportunities. Organizations must be located in the United States of America and have been determined by the Internal Revenue Services to be exempt from tax under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code and to be a public charity described in Section 509(a)(1), (2) or (3) of the Internal Revenue Code “501(c)(3) Public Charities”.
In order to be considered, the grant seeker organization will need to establish a profile on the grant portal. Funding requests should be submitted on the Philos Foundation Grant Portal.
If an inquiry qualifies for consideration, the grant seeker will be notified via email to complete an application on the Grant Portal. The grant seeker may be contacted by staff to learn more about the organization and whether the grant request aligns with current funding.
Philos Foundation may consider responsive grants during times of disaster to provide timely and effective support to affected communities.
The Philos Foundation Board of Directors has sole authority to approve grant requests. Philos Foundation staff is responsible for reviewing, screening, performing due diligence, and recommending grants to the Board.

Outcome Measures
Philos Foundation will request a report detailing measurable outcomes and/or objectives to maximize the benefits of the grants awarded. The data received is a valuable tool as the Philos Foundation determines the efficacy of the programs it is funding.
Reasonable and realistic objectives will be agreed upon before grant disbursement to minimize the burden on the grant seeker. Reporting will be due to Philos Foundation within 30 days of the end of the funding term unless an alternative time frame is agreed upon.
Site Visit
After completing the application, Philos Foundation may request a site visit especially if this is the first time for funding. The visit may be in person or via Zoom.
We will attempt to provide sufficient notice before the visit and communicate the goal, which may include: learning more about an organization and its capacity to deliver on a proposal; meeting key personnel; assessing the facility; obtaining additional program and financial information.
